Forty-two classes fold into Synergy subclasses and over 800 Ascension combinations, so most runs end because your pile of recruits collapsed under its own weird logic. Adventure mode is the roguelite route, with buildings to construct and the Endbringer waiting whenever you decide you are ready; Battle mode just asks how long you last.
